Who loves natural wines?
Nowadays a lot of people use this term to indicate three categories: organic, biodynamic and natural wines. But they present several differences!
My first event of the new year was Io Bevo Così 2018. It’s the perfect summary of these three different philosophies of wines. Do you remember the last edition?
This time there were some improvements. Here’re more details about Io Bevo Così 2018 and three new interesting discoveries.
Are you ready? Let’s start!
Io Bevo Così 2018
The fifth edition of Io Bevo Così took place on 22th of January in Milan, like as did the preview of the last edition.
The location was Excelsior Hotel Gallia, one of the most prestigious hotels in Milan.
The event was preceded by a gala dinner on Sunday.
One of the new things about this edition was access only to professionals and the press.
90 wineries from 6 countries and more than 600 wines were featured.
But Io Bevo Così 2018 was not only about wine because there were also some spirits. The selection was very interesting!

Top 3
Modestu 2016 – Giovanni Montisci
When you think of Sardinia, the first wine that comes to mind is Cannonau. But this is not the case! Modestu is a dry white wine, produced from the Muscat grape. It has a brilliant pale yellow color. The bouquet is very flowery and fruity. You can taste notes of spring flowers, apple and grapefruit. The wine has the right balance of flavour and fragrance. Modestu is fresh and tasty with a long pleasant finish.
Sant’Isidoro 2016 – Maria Pia Castelli
This is a blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese, realized by drawing off (saignée). The wine has a dark rosé color. You can detect notes of red fruits (cherry, strawberry, pomegranate), flowers (rose) and a hint of spices (cinnamon). The taste is very fresh and well balanced with a tannic hint, but Sant’Isidoro needs more ageing in the bottle to express itself fully.
Altogrado 2009 – Barraco
Very particular! Grillo that spends 7 years in a chestnut barrel, without addiction to wine. After a year the flor film is naturally formed. All this produces a complex wine from its golden yellow color with amber highlights to the honey, truffle, nail varnish, and chestnut aromas. Altogrado is fresh and elegant with good saltiness. The finish is long and caramelized.
Sold Out
Io Bevo Così 2018 was sold out some days before the opening day.
Andrea Pesce and Andrea Sala, the creators of the event, cannot be too happy about this success!
The interest in this event increases more and more. And I wait for big things in the next edition.
